Whether in sport, work, relationships, or everyday life, the way we think influences how we perform, and how we feel in our bodies shapes how we show up mentally. At Mind and Muscle, we believe that real, sustainable growth happens when both are addressed in tandem.
While the name may suggest a focus on athletes, our work extends far beyond sport. We work with individuals across ages, backgrounds, and experiences supporting concerns ranging from stress and life transitions to performance, identity, and emotional wellbeing. Sport and performance is simply one lens through which we understand something much broader: the human experience. The same patterns that show up in competition (pressure, self-doubt, resilience, discipline) also show up in daily life.
Our goal is to help clients strengthen both their mental and physical awareness, building a more connected, adaptive, and grounded way of functioning where the mind and body are working together rather than against each other.

Hi, there! I am Dr. Julie Gittelson (but you can call me Dr. G) and I am the owner and brains behind Mind and Muscle Psychotherapy. I am a licensed clinical Psychologist. My experience with both voluntary and court-mandated clients has shaped my ability to meet people wherever they are in the process whether they feel ready for change or still unsure. I also have experience in psychological assessment. My personal experience as an athlete myself has developed my interest in working with athletes and high-performing individuals looking to strengthen their overall performance. I work with a wide range of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, and life transitions. Whether someone is navigating a specific challenge or seeking general growth, I aim to provide a space that is both supportive and practical, helping clients build insight while developing tools they can use in their everyday lives.
Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable. My goal is to create a space that feels grounded, straightforward, and free of judgment so you can actually do the work you came in for. If you are looking for something deeper than just talking things through, consider reaching out to schedule a session with me. I am so happy you are here!
